Which CKD Model is Best For Me?

So you’re looking for a new kite, and you may have a few questions.

Which model suits my needs?

Does having one model remove the need for the others in the CKD lineup?

At CKD, each model contains a very different personality, emphasizing a certain persona or lesson to accompany you on your kiting journey. For me, flying one of our models is not a matter of “when” to fly it as you grow, but rather a matter of what personality I want to fly and what I want to work on.

The Spur SE is built to excel on short lines/small spaces and in turbulent winds, flies fast, and encapsulates an edgy flight persona that will “spur” you on into the radical parts of your flying. Although fast, it’s stable and intuitive for its size, and loves maneuvers such as the Taz Machine, and hands out double rotations in tricks. Utilizing SkyShark P-series carbon cut to a short length, the Spur SE holds up to very strong inputs. Don’t let this fireball fool you, it will slowly teach you to relax your upper body and become even more agile as you grow with it. When you loosen up, the fun can really begin.

The Crux is our resident trick monster. It comes with an incredibly deep, but recoverable backflip and rigid SkyShark PT-series frame, enabling it to hold up to Cyniques, Comets, Tip Stabs, and other high impact maneuvers, removing the worry of regular breakage. The Crux has buckets of drive with semi-light pull, and a large wind window making tricking in your full space easy and exciting. If you’re looking for a tool to get you out of your head and into exploring what you’re truly capable of, look no further. You may surprise yourself.

The Intention is our teacher of the CKD line. A full sized model that’s focused on elegance and refinement, packed with razor sharp tracking and a full trick repertoire. The Intention demands a consistent and fluid hand, boldly reflecting the work you put into it. Boasting equal emphasis on fully manipulatable rotational and pitch-based tricks, stalls and precision, the Intention will teach you to listen to your kite. It will continually show you where things can be refined, and what is already working well. Knowledge is power.

Ultimately, the best review of our models are from our customers. If you’re still not sure, we’re happy to help you, but asking someone who flies what you’re looking for can provide you with unbiased, invaluable information.
